Risk Management

ClerkMaxwell provides an independent assurance process for project approval requirements through analysis of project risks at various stages of the project lifecycle. ClerkMaxwell personnel will ensure that all technical, schedule, cost and project delivery risks are understood and that an agreed mitigation plan is in place. The identified project risks can also be prioritised utilising either a Montecarlo analysis or client preferred tool to assess and understand the potential spread of the risk. This then allows the appropriate focus to be paid to the most influencing areas of the project.

Safety and Risk Assessments

ClerkMaxwell ensures that safety in design is at the forefront of everything it does. Getting safety right in design is essential to avoid scope change and growth during detailed design and also potential issues during the operational phases of a project. ClerkMaxwell can develop HSE plans and safety management systems for a specific project and provides the following services:

  • HAZOPs/HAZIDs/SILs/SIMOPs facilitation
  • Safety and risk assessments
  • Quantitative Risk Assessment (QRA)
  • Technical safety engineering to include:
    • Dropped Object Studies
    • Hazardous Area Classification
    • Explosion Overpressure Modelling
    • Escape and Evacuation Studies
    • Loss Prevention (i.e. deluge design, fire protection, fire & gas detection, etc.)

Project Assurance, PEER Reviews/VIPs

ClerkMaxwell provides an independent assurance process for project approval requirements through PEER reviews at various stages of the project lifecycle. Utilising personnel with complete life of asset knowledge including feasibility, FEED, detailed design, construction and operations experience, ClerkMaxwell personnel can ensure that a thorough review is performed that ensures that the original project goals and intent can be met for sanction to the next phase.

Value Improvement Services

We recognise that during the conceptual and FEED phases of a project that there is a requirement to introduce a greater degree of value into the design. ClerkMaxwell’s value improvement process ensures that there is the potential to identify reduction in cost and, most importantly, to ensure the project fulfils the Basis of Design requirements. Specifically during the FEED phase, systems are examined to select the best economic option in terms of system type, degree of sparing, reliability, minimisation of offshore hook-up and other CAPEX and OPEX aspects.

The reliability, availability and maintainability of your operations are crucial to reducing the risks and improving the performance of your asset. ClerkMaxwell utilise traditional and advanced modelling techniques to help our clients ascertain the reliability, availability and maintainability of their process plant.
