Naval Architecture and Marine Engineering

ClerkMaxwell has experience in the design and analysis of vessel structures for FPSOs and other vessels for both new builds and conversions of existing vessels. This includes vessel motion and response analysis of vessels and mooring systems and linear and non-linear finite element analysis for fatigue life determination.

Experience includes the design of process decks, flare towers and supports for process equipment and pipework. The main tools for moorings, risers and vessel motions are Orcaflex and AQWA, providing fast and accurate results.

Riser Design and Moorings Analysis

ClerkMaxwell has experience in riser design and mooring systems, and in particular, has access to new up and coming technologically advanced mooring system designs. This expertise can be used to reduce risk and improve operability of existing and new proposed mooring facilities for FPSOs and offloading tankers.

This riser design and mooring systems expertise, along with our other expertise including subsea infrastructure, marine engineering and naval architecture, allows for reviews of other field development options such as:

  • Extended Well Test options versus subsea tie backs to existing assets.
  • FPSOs with technically advanced offloading facilities rather than new fixed jackets or subsea tie-backs to existing assets.
